PCV Training Cost

The natural assumption is that it can be expensive to train for a PCV Licence, however this is not true. You have many options for learning to become a bus or coach driver which can involve learning over a long period of time or taking an intensive one week course.

Many training providers offer discounts for intensive driving courses with a five day intensive course from Monday to Friday, with around four hours actual coach driving per day and the driving test on the Friday afternoon typically costing less than £180 per day.

For those who pass first time this can be a very cost effective route to a full PCV Licence.
Driver CPC

From September 2008, anyone wanting to become a bus driver must also obtain a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC). It currently costs £30 for the theory side of the Driver CPC, and £63 for the practical side (including receiving your Driver Qualification Card). To retain this, you need to undertake 35 hours of Periodic Training every five years.
